User Experience Monitoring (UEM)
Organisations that invest in IT infrastructure, often don’t understand how their user base experiences the service being delivered. But there is a simple solution to protect that investment: UEM.
What makes the UEM service such a valuable tool is that it sheds light on how the user perceives the experience. This enables organisations to change their perspective from an inside-out view, where monitoring of individual infrastructure takes place within a company, to an outside-in view, where organisations monitor their delivered services from the customers’ perspective.
Gain insight into service delivery
By performing a typical series of pre-defined actions through internet-based applications using ADSL, 3G and other types of connectivity, the UEM service is able to gather performance metrics relating to how well the monitored application performed. And do so through the eyes of the user.
Made available via the UEM Data Explorer and UEM Dashboard, these metrics give access to this experience by providing detailed graphs, spreadsheets and views on end-to-end application and service performance.
By using the UEM Availability service, you will be able to answer questions such as:
- How long does it take to load the different pages in my website or access data via my web services?
- During busy periods, how high are my peaks and why are they so high?
- Which steps or services in the application are problematic?
- Do errors occur? If so, how frequently and on which pages?
- How bad is an error? When an error does occur, where possible a screen-shot is taken, allowing one to view what the user is experiencing.
- What impact has new hardware or software made on the user’s experience?
Often, the results returned can be an unexpected eye-opener!
Explore service metrics
The powerful reporting tools available in the UEM management console allow you to monitor and manage your applications on an ongoing basis. This helps your organisation to continuously improve and develop the services that enhance your customers’ experience.
Notification and reporting engines
The UEM Availability service is integrated into a notification engine that allows you to configure alerts sent via email and or SMS messages when errors or anomalies occur. These are user defined and can be changed as and when required.
The Reporting engine allows user defined graphs and reports to be sent via email to appropriate recipients. These can be configured to run daily, weekly or monthly and can include user defined comments.
